Vinson, of Milton, and M. H. Rice, of Freewater. were In the city yesterday. They are enthusias tic over the prospects for the local option amendment and hope to see It carry at the polls. Mr. and Mrs. F. It. Berbower, of Cripple Creel;. Col., were In town between trains, tho guests of their old "friends and neighbors, C. E. Troutman and wife. They were en route to Portland, from which place they will go by boat to San Francis co. Mr. Berbower Is n mining brok er and mining man in general. PIONEER DEAD. Mrs. Mary Lee Dies From Effects of Broken Thigh. Mrs, Mary Lee, of whom mention has been made several times of late on account of her precarious condi tion since having her thigh broken April 1, died at her homo at 415 West Alta street, at 10:30 Saturday night, of old age, her death being hastened by the accident mentioned. Mrs. Lee wns 80 vears and 23 days old, and was born In New York In March. 1824. With her family she camo to Oregon In 1802, and totUma tllla county In 1SC8, whore she resld ed continuously until her death. Her Immediate relatives residing in this place an; a son, I.. U. iao, ami daughter. Mrs. Amy Lee. The funeral was hem nt tho Thomnson street Methodist church at 10 o'clock this morning, conducted by Rev. Selene, the 6-year-old daughter of John Liberty, Indian, died at the family home on the reservation. Sat unlay, and was buried yesterday from the mission Catholic church, Father Neato oulciating. The Inter ment was made In the mission Cath ollc cemetery. Fine Herd of Hogs. B. V. McElroy has sold 120 head. of fat hogs to the Sound market, bringing them in and loading them today.
