Large Audience Greeted Mrs. Graves' Lecture at the Baptist Church Last Night. A large audience attended the lec ture at the Baptist church last night, by Mrs. M. N. Graves, of Centralia, Wash., who spoko on the topic: "Is the Young Man, Absalom, Safe?" for the benefit of the Men's Ilesort. Mrs. Wade, who accompanies Mrs. Graves, recited a selection in the Ger man dialect, which was well received. Acollectlon was taken for the beno fit of the Men's Ilesort, after tho lec ture, amounting to $12.30. Mrs. Graves and Mrs. Wade left this morning for points In Idaho, from wboro they will go east to attend tho meeting or tho National W. C. T. A suit was filed in the clerk's offleo this morning by Hailcy & Iowell in tho case of Irving Johnson vs. Magglo Lalirash. Tho case Is an action to determluo the possession of a quarter section of land on the Umatilla res ervation. Tho plaintiff alleges that he mar ried tho sister of the defendant lu 1893, and that she afterwards died Intestate, leaving him the solo heir to the land allotted hor by tho gov ernment. The defendant claims a share in tho land and its products, and rentals, and this the plaintiff ob jects to. For Echo Cannery. T, C.
