Claimed By A Buyer There is Not Feed For One-Third the Cattle In This County Stated That Montana Buyers Will Not Materialize Some Remarks on Valley Feeding. J. C. Lonergnn Is In the city, hav ing come In from the South Fork nnd Uklah country, where he has ooen buying cattle for his big shipments for this mouth, the first of which will be on Tuesday nest, when he will fillip over 20 enrs from this city. The Interior of the county Is burned up as far as pasture Is con cerned, so Mr. Louergan says. There is not feed for one-third of the cat tle in the county, and the growers cannot afford to pay $S for hay. haul it to their stock and .then feed them through the winter. They are selling everything that -they cau dis pose of and are not getting rid of many at that. Most of the leef cattle In the country are now dis posed or. but all the range and stock cattle are yet In the wny, and the men are hustling to get feed for them during the wnlter. More Forage or Fewer Cattle. According to Mr. Lonergnn. the cattle men of the country must do two things' in order to make money by their stock: One is to cut their herds in half, and the other is to raise twice as much feed for the re mainder as they do at the present time. When they do that they will be able to have fat cattle and reallie good prices from the sale ot their i stock. The country Is eaten out. and, there is a strong probability that the! stock will suffer before spring unless i some big sales are made before the i winter Is over. Some of the growers have feed for their stock, but these men are few and far between, and the majority are looking for a way ', out of the dilemma. The story about the Montana men : coming Into the country for cartle is! a myth, for the men there are load-1 ed to the guards with stock and have no room for more, though mere are some of the growers from the Dako- tas who hae a place for more mock, than they have at this time, but the i chances are that they would want the cuttle so cheap that the growers of this county could not afford to sell , fort amj the Indfana state reforma them nt the figure they would offer, I Sorj. at Jeft'ersonvllle. ' As to Webfoot Feeding. If n man hud feed In the valley' and could get the stock there, he mlcht make on a deal, though the i cattle from this country do not win ter in the wet country very well when taken from the dry ranges of Eastern Oregon unless-they are very well , fed and sheltered. But If the buyer had cheap feed and plenty of it the Investment would be a good one. as the stork could lie either shipped or driven over the mountains nt this time of 'the year. Schmidt's Pharmacy: Dear Sirs There are dnlly occur rences in this city that ought to be known all over the world. A guile less old gentleman and octogenarian, a distant relative of Robert Fulton, of first steamship fame, has saved tbe lives of hundreds (probably thous auds) after they were believed to be beyond human aid. His discovery Is undoubtedly the long-sought cure for Bright s Disease and Diabetes. This Is not easy of belief, and It is the purpose of a number or business and professional men of this city (of whom I am one) to tell the people, You aro hereby authorized to tell all those In your city who have eltJfer Bright's Disease or Diabetes, that nearly nine-tenths of them can re cover. Old Favorite to Appear at the Frazer Jsj October 6 and 7. W Paradox of paradoxes! "East' Lynne" comedy? What next? For.$ 50 years our forefathers hnvo went'iji over the mlstqrtunes of Lady Isabel is! and cursed the villainy or Sir Fran- vis l.evlson. And yet hero Is tho (j announcement that J. Frazer Crosby, s! Jr. will present n scenic revlvnl ot "East "I.ynnr" with Inez Forman and John Dillon at the head of the cast. That old veteran comedian, John Dillon. In "East Lynne?" To look at him means to lnugh, and ho can't open his mouth without causing yon hysterics. Still John Dillon is to bo given wide sway for his many prnnks and witticisms. In the lending role Miss Foiman herself makes Lady Is abel a veritable Lady Babble iif the first two acts. ;And, by the wny, one of the host Eastern critics has said that In this line Miss Forman showed her worth iness of being classed with Mnnd Adams. It certainly is a bold undertaking to stem the tide of popular tradition as" to how "East Lynuo" should be played, and with one stroke to trans fer the piece from the category ot tragedy into that of serlo-comedy. But there are reasons for this radi cal revision and they are so valid that we now wonder how the discov ery conies so late. For they are In strict accord with tho public demands of present day drama. of present day dramn. At tho Frazer Tuesday and Wednesday nights by special request.
