yields are estimated to be slightly
below the average, in Southern Or
epon and In the Grand Rondo valley
some of the deficiency has been made
up by cutting grain for hay. The sec
ond crop of alfalfa is now being har
vested In a few localities. Corres
pondents In Polk and Jackson coun
ties report grasshoppers unusually
numerous In the clover fields.

great amount of cloudiness during
the week has been un unfavorable

Prunes are beginning to color and
early apples aro ripe. A few corres
pondents report Italian prunes as
dropping badly, and that tho yields
