J The first of tlit- year is always the , heavy part, as far as figures and cx lienses go, as will he seen from the figures that follow. This Is due to the added expense of the county gov ernment during tho cold part of the , year, provision for which must be 1 made in the latter part of the sum mer ami the fall. These extra expen ( ses show in the January totals, as i will he seen. I On .July 1. l&uu. the total debt of I the county was $102,103.03; on Janu ary 1, 1001, It was $105,975.87. From I this will be seen the added weight of expense In the last half of the year. On .Inly 1. 1001, the debt was $101, 007.70; January 1, 1002, it had raised to $ll!l,7B2.32. July 1, 1002, the debt fell to $72,002.7.1; January 1 of this year. It bad Jumped to $103,008.54, and the present report pulls It down to $03,324.74. This will show that the county In the last three years, from July 1, 10(10. to July 1. 10H3, has paid off $38,778.28 of the public debt, and In a few more years at the rate now paying, the county will be out of demt and free from all Incumbrance. The detailed statement of the last report Is given below and will show tho distribution of the funds and the status of the county's affairs financi ally: Liabilities.
