As It was found that tho position of tho Turks was Impregnable, Hen eral Ourko, tho Russian commander decided on a siege. Soon afterward Os man Pasha attempted to cut through the investing lines, but was driven into the town. Uy degrees the Turks were reduced to almost starvation and obliged tu capitulate. What followed Is matter of history. Just as the Russians had made clear the way to Constantinople, tho Euro pean powers interposed and forced a peace.
