will glvo a few details of the narrow;
escapo of Mrs. Honry Belts and her
family from bolng drowned in tho
Jack Canyon wntorspnut. Mrs. Belts
lives on Birch creek, about half n
mile above Pilot Rock and about hn'f
a mile below the conlluonco of Jack
canyon and Birch creek. When she,
discovered the Hood, with her five
children anil a little girl who had
been visiting tlmm, she hurried to
the hill which she rcachod In safety.
Sho then returned to the house after
some papers and pictures which sho
prized highly. Whon sho reached the
house she waded waist deep in the
water, The mud settled in tho houso
nlinnt six inches deep, and it tool:
four people from two to three days
to clear out tho mud and strnignien
tho house. She also had about 30
dozen eggs which she was holding
for higher prices, but ns she said,
they suddenly rose and she let them
