Colonel Arthur Lynch, Irish member of parliament, charged with treason, was arraigned again today and was remanded in or der to give the lawyers time to con sider the evidence. Washington, July 29. The navy department today received the fol lowing from Commander McCrea, of the gunboat Nashville, at Cape Hay tien: "Affairs are very much disturbed at Cape Haytien. An unorganized mob is in the city. Foreign consuls have been threatened. Will give protec tion on board and prevent bombard ment without duo notice." Cheng's Visit Postponed. Washington, July 29. The Chinese minister has officially notified the state department that the viBit to this country of Prince Cheng and suite has been postponed for the present. Mass for Mackay. London, July 29. Inauguration of Work on Christian Church Sunday Evening. The laying of tho corner stone of tho new Christian Church, at the cor ner of Water and Johnson streets Sunday evening, was attended by sev eral hundred people. The services were conducted by Dr. W. F. Cowden, of Tacoma, and were very impres sive. All of the churcheB of the town dismissed their congregations for the evening and many took ad vantage of the opportunity of wit nessing the corner Btojne laying cere monies. Work will now be pushed on the new edifice, which is intended for the finest church structure in tne city, until it is completed. William Nixon, of Seattle, at tempted to win the affections of a danco hall girl in that city by pre tending to be Harry Tracy, and was almost .beaten to death by a police man and another party to whom the girl told her story. Big Yachting Regatta Opens at Char lotte, on Lake Erie. Rochester, N. Y., .July 29. In yachting circles much Interest is manifested in the races of the In ternational Lake Yacht Racing asso ciation -which takes place today at Chailotte, on Lake Erie. The asso ciation is made up of the Canadian and American clubs, whose yachts have achieved an international repu tation. The race which Is interesting yachtsmen on both sides of the lake the most is that between the 35 footers, because the entries include the two Canadian cup winners, the Genesee and the Invader, and the de feated defender, tho Beaver. Governor Loses First Round of His Suit Against Spreckles and Leak. San Francisco, July 29. Superior Judge Sloss today discharged the writ of prohibition asked for by Gov ernor Gage to prevent the local po lice court from trying the libel suit instigated by Attorney Boardman against Spreckles and Leak, holding that the local trial Is not prejudicial to the governor and will not inter fere with the suit to bo brought in Wilmington. South Pasadena Postoffice Safe Is Blown Open by Midnight Maraud ers. , Los Angeles, July 29. The South Pasadena postoffice was broken into at midnight and $450 in stamps, sev eral hundred dollars in money se cured by blowing open the safe with dynamite. The first wheat returns of the sea' son have been received, coming from the farm of W. P. Templer, about seven miles from thiB city. The report is that harvesting tboro on 80 acres of barley resulted In product of 35 bushels to tho acre, while 50 acres of wheat gave 7 sacks of fine, clear grain.
