Mr. and Mrs. E. H. Graham, of

Pendleton did things to the Beet
Pullers at La Grande Thursday jn a
very poor exhibition of the national
game, making the fifth, straight game
which they have taken from tho
Grande Ronde boys with the showing
made getting worse all the time,
The train on which the Indians
went over to La Grande was several
hours late in getting out of Pendle
ton, owing to the wreck of the Buffa
lo Bill car near Willows, and the
game was not called until 4:15 p. m.
The sun was low, which accounts for
tho uumerous hits, runs and errors
on each side. The grounds were al
so in poor condition.
McBirney, who was pitching for
La Grande, attempted to pick a quar
rel with Wilner, the Indian's pitcher,
in the fifth inning, and -was sent to
the bench by the umpire. McGucken,
a new arrival took his place. There
were no sensational features of the
playing and the game as a whole was
uninterostinsr. The umnirinc was
very bad.
Pendleton's heavy stick wielders
were right there with the goods and
two-base hits were landed by Brown
and Schills, the latter of whom also
took three sacks on another hit. Men
efee smashed a two-sacker and Black
hit for three, for the La Grande bat
ting honors.

reparations for the dance at Kino's
grove, west of town, Saturday even
ing and Sunday afternoon and even

Kirkman's orchestra, needs no rec
