Some Radical Changes Made In Them But No Definite Action Taken. There will be s"ome radical changes In the rules of playing football this season if football players do not make a successful howl at the pres ent proposed rules for the guide book of 1002. The committee on football rules, composed of Walter Camp, of Yale, chairman; John C. Boyle, Alex ander Moffatt, of Princeton; Robert D. Wren, of Harvard; and L. M. Den nis, of Cornell, have so ruled and they are only awaiting the cvDrval of other players before taking any definite action. Of so radlcal a nature are some of the changes decided upon by this committee that they suggested each member should talk over the new rules with the football authorities at his particular college, and if any ob jection was raised word should be sent to the chairman, Walter Camp, and a call for another meeting will be Issued. If no objection is raised the new rules will be printed in the official guide for 1902. One radical change Is the kicking goal from touchdown. The new rules provide for the bringing of the ball as heretofore, to kicking distance, say 20 yards from the goal posts; that this point shall be the line of scrimmage, and the try for goal can be made by tho ball either for a place kick- or a drop kick behind the line of scrimmage.
