Walla Walla, Wash., June C Con trary to the general expectation of the people of this city the ball game between the Berkley Callfornians and Whitman College nine at the Second street grounds yesterday afternoon was a complete surprise. A small crowd of perhaps 500 peoplo gather ed to witness what was supposed to be a complete snowing under of tho Whitman boys, but at tho close of the game when tho score showed G to 3 in favor of Whitman, the little crowd went wild with enthusiasm and col lege sympathizers yelled themselves hoarse in an endeavor to alleviate their pent-up feelings. Tho order of the day previous when the Sharpshooters were defeat ed by tho Borkelyites, was reversed much to the chagrin of the California lads, who had confidently expected a walk-over on this game as tho home team had easily beaten Whitmanin their last effort, only a short time ago. The visitors wore unable to find Marquis, the left-hand twirler, who was the principal strength of the Whitman boys. His record for the day was 10 men struck out. In fact, Mnrquis came nearly being the whole thing, although several fancy plays were made in tho field. By changing the line-up of tho pre vious day tue visitors weakened their team preceptibly. Following is the line-up of the two nines: Whitman Dutcher, 3b; Ringer, rf: H. Brown, c; Hauerbach, 2b; John ston, ss; Perringer, cf; Dement, lb; W. Brown', If; Marquis, p. They are the weapons that have been used for generations to fight old Rheumatism, and are about as effective in the battle with this giant disease as the blunderbuss of our forefathers would be in modern warfare. 1 ; -yr nil nnirl emit" condition of the blood. It is filled with nend, irritating matter that settles in the joints, muscles and nerves, and liniments and oils nor nothing else npplied externally can dislodge these gritty, corroding particles. They were deposited there by the blood and can be reached only through the blood. Rubbing with liniments sometimes relieve temporarily the aches and pains, but these are only symptoms which are' liable to return with every change of the weather ; the real disease lies deeper, the blood and system are infected. Rheumatism cannot be radically and permanently cured until the blood has been purified, and no remedy does this so thoroughly and promptly as S. S. S. It neutralizes the acids and sends a stream 0. ncn, Strong uiuuu iu urn mmcuicu jjuita, wxiicu dissolves and washes out nil foreign materials, and the sufferer obtains happy relief from the torturing pains, S.
