Begins on Thursday and Continues for Ten Days in Byers' Grove. Byers' grove is fast developing in to a little town. Already more than 100 tents are up ready for occupancy and quite a number of people from different towns are arriving to attend the Seventh Day Adventists' camp meeting exercises. The regular meetings will begin Thursday even ing, and last until after the 25th and it is expected that between 1000 and 1500 people will be camped in the grove during these ten days. Extensive arrangements are being made for the accommodations of the people, and all who attend these meetings will bo made to feel at "home. A dining tent is being erect ed, where all who wish can be sup plied with eatables without leaving the ground and accommodations will be arranged for the horses of many who drive in from the country', and those who come to stay the week or more can either turn their teams in pasture that will be provided near at hand, or will Ve provided for on the grounds. The large tent where the regular exercises will be held, will hold 1500 people and beside this there is two smaller tents, one for the children and one for the young people, where appropriate exercises will be con ducted for them. While the regular services will not commence until the 15th, there will be preaching every evening from now until the 25th. Elder J. O. Cor liss, of Oakland, Cal., is here and will conduct the services this even, ing, beginning at 8 o'clock. Holds up a Congressman. "At the end of the campaign," writes Champ Clark, Missouri's bril liant congressman, "from overwork, nervous, tension, loss of sleep and constant sepaking I had utterly col lapsed. It seemed that all the organs of my body were out or oruer, uut thrsn bottles of Electric Bitters made me all right. It's the best all-round medicine ever sold over a druggists counter." Overworked, run down men and weak, sickly women gain splendid health and vitality from Electric Bitters. Try them. Only 50c. Guaranteed by Tallman & Co. Most Effective Advertising. That advertising is the most effect ive which attracts the eye and ap peals to the brain. Strong adjectives may bo as much out of taste in an advertisement as in a bit of more aspiring literature. Exaggeration is always to be avoided. People nowa days demand sincerity In all matters of business. It Is observable that all the big and successful advertisers aro most careful as to their statements of fact. They realize that confidence is the key-stone in the arch of trade. Their fcuccess came of their Jealous regard Tor their work The Independent Warehouse. Will be open for business, with a competent man in charge, to see that all customers receive prompt and careful attention. Wool growers and wheat grower3 will find it to their Interest to Btore with thiB house, where they can flhip over either lines of road. References, First National Bank. William Caldwell In charge. rion't Use Too Many Words. Multiplication of words Increases; the expense and decreases the effec- tlveness of advertising. Say whatj you have to say in as few words as Jt can be taid then stop. By so doing you can set what ypu want to say Jn 1 larger type, so that It will command the attention of more readers than 1 would a wordy discourse set In small 1 type. ' REFLECTIONS. The cut-glnss goblots went to smash Along with my pipe-holder; The dining chairs havo broken, backs, And each looks Hko a folder. And that's why wo'll not move again- Unless I sternly write it Tht-y let me boss tho moving Job, And then I'll dynamite It! W. D. NESUIT. "NO CLINKERS." "Cokes the Coal and Burns the Coke" A Testimonial From Some of Pendleton's Business Citizens. Mr. W. Q. McPherson, Portland, Oregon. Dear Sir: After having given tho "Perfect" Hot Air Blast Furnace a thorough test in' tho last two years we can truthfully say that we have never seen its equal for economy. Your statement that it "cokes thu coal and burns the coke," wo hnvs found to be correct, for we find that after burning a fire continuously, there is left only a very small quan tity of ashes, and no clinkers, tho ashes being as fine as flour. Tho splendid results wo havo attained with this furnace have truly surpris ed us. Yours very truly, . F. E. JUDD, C. S. JACKSON, I T. C. TAYLOH, 1 F. B. CLOPTON, ' H. L. HEXTER.
