In a confession, the boy aaid that he
had stolen the blank check of Hiram
Smith ami then walked all the way
to Pendleton. On the way he came
across a school house, which he found
to be open. There the check was forg
ed for $190 ; and Hiram Smith's name
was placed at the Bottom.
He presented the check at the Sav
ings bank for payment, hut the cash
ier was suspicions and after compar
ing the forged signature with a true
one refused to give the cash. J.

imal imitator, Petite Leila Marie
the child artist; Mr. Win. Digletou in
