The (). K. A N. Co. has received two
new dining cars, one of which will rc-
place the old t'nioii Pacific car which
has been in use since the new service
went on. To what use the second
new diner is to be put the trainmen

The railroads are anticipating an
immense tramc in wheat, in the event

One field on the John llagen farm
has all leeii threshed and the yield de
termined. It went thirty-eight bush
els to the Here. The John llagen place
is five miles north from Pendleton,
The Held that was threshed was not a
large one, and the remainder of the
crop may not hold out at that average.
It is scarcely atpoetOO that it will.
A field of barlcv, four miles south
from Pendleton, fia boon, threshed,
and yielded thirty bushels to the acre.
This is regarded as a very g.l turn
out for that land.
Some of the fanners further north
and west have done considerable
threshing, but not many have indi
cated what arc the yields.
Ii. Miller, whose ranch is six and a
half miles south from Pendleton on
Dry Tutuilla creek, is bHilling wheal
to town, threshed this year. He
brought in 70 sacks today, between
nine and ten thousand pounds, with a
six-horse team, which is part of a lot
of 5(HI sacks he lias sold lo W, S.
Myers at tifty cents a bushel. It is
red chafl and hlueslein mixed, and
Mdsja No. 1. It test.nl .Ml pound, to
the bushel. He threshed 142 acres
and got a yield of 1000 sacks, or al.nt

being such as to make it impossible
for him to buy there and handle the

Many farmers who prefer t. sell to
a mill will therefore haul to Pendleton
or other stations on the O. K. ,V. N .
lines. The impression has been given
in some .purlers that the milling in
lranit rate has been granted Mr.

elicits the informal ion that this is not
the case.
