Does Judge C. B. I^m kin have anv voice in conducting the Bates case? What more can the county judge do than administer the duties of his own office? Just how much, then, do such promises really mean to the people of Jackson county? We grant that his stand for lower taxes is worthy. However, drastic cuts in the county budget, just for the sake of showing that several thousand dollars have been saved to the county is not a cure-all. Cutting appropriations regardless of what they are for, «an do just as much harm as good, and we are afraid that Mr. Fehl || could not make good on many of his promises after a careful study of | the expenses and needs of the counly.
