Portland and SW Washington S P O T L I G H T S Multnomah County Animal Services hosting emergency cat and kitten adoption special PSU Graduation Speaker Multnomah County Animal Services is asking for the public’s help adopting or fostering cats and kittens. The shelter is hosting an emergency adoption special. Cats ages six months or older will cost just $12. As a bonus, Multnomah County Animal Services will offer free cat food to anyone who adopts a cat that’s been waiting for a home for 30 days or more. This offer will be available Thursday, May 28 through Sunday, May 31. Currently, the shelter is at 94 percent capacity with more cats expected as kitten season (between late spring and early autumn) gets underway. With sunny skies anticipated this week and into the week- end, Multnomah County Animal Services is urging the pub- lic to visit the shelter in Troutdale to take advantage of this special. Zanele Mutepfa will speak at PSU’s commencement June 14 at Moda Center. Mutepfa, a 2015 PSU graduate majoring in communications and minoring in business and Black studies, was born in Zimbabwe and adopted by a Portland family after her parents died. At PSU, Mutepfa interned with Anderson Cooper 360, the Sesame Workshop and Adidas, and volunteered as a disaster responder after the typhoon in the Philippines. She hopes to someday host a talk show, write books, and found a women’s empowerment organization. Mutepfa was Lincoln High School’s Rose Festival Princess in 2010.
