Fellowship Catherine Annette Walker Smith Carrie Lee Collins Sunrise: September 17, 1944 Sunset: April 23, 2015 August 8, 1954 – April 27, 2015 C atherine was born to Robert Walker and Sally Manning on Sept. 17, 1944, in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She departed this world on April 23, 2015, at the age of sev- enty. She resided in Pine Bluff with her paternal grandmother until she moved to Portland, Ore- gon in 1960 where she attended Jefferson High School. Soon after arriv- ing here, she was baptized by Pastor Marian Hawthorne at Shiloh Baptist Church. At the youthful age of eighteen, she met and married Ray Smith of Seattle, Washington, who passed away many years ago. She moved to Seattle and from their union, a child was conceived but Catherine was unable to carry it full- term. Even though she was not blessed to have children of her own, she was a mother figure to count- less children. She pitched Overlook Tavern to several cham- pionships and was one of her team’s power hit- ters. Tee Tee could hit a mush ball a country mile but never made it past second base. She was “SLOW”. She was also a very competitive card player, especially five-hundred rummy, Whist, Bid Whist and later in life, Spades. Cat was also known to have slammed a domino or two. Catherine leaves to mourn her loss, brother Henry Collins, Billy Collins, Richard Collins, Larry Collins, Jesse Collins Jr, sister Ashli Harmon, a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Services were held Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Parkways After high-school, she went to work for Nabis- co. There she remained until she injured herself. When she returned to work, she worked as a Care Provider for the remainder of her life. She chose the care provider industry because she had empathy and felt an obli- gation to help others. She demonstrated those attributes every Sunday when she pre- pared a “soulful” dinner and welcomed all to partake. She is preceded in death by her mother Sally Mae Manning; father Steve Har- mon, step father Jesse Collins Sr. and Sister Catherine Smith. Survivors include her three children: sons Roy Collins, Michael Collins and daughter Dominique Collins, all of Portland Oregon, brothers Henry, Billy, Larry, Richard and Jesse Jr, of Portland Oregon and the many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and her great-great niece and nephew. She spent the first eleven years of her life growing up in the Albina Neigh- borhood where she first attending Eliot Grade School through third-grade, the fourth grade through half of the sixth grade at Boise and later on attending Buckman elementary in Southeast Portland. A Washington High School graduate, Carrie was a substantial athlete who received two President’s physical fitness Award but did not compete in high school because there really were not opportuni- ties for girls. She was a member of the Overlook Tavern mush ball team leading them to several mush ball championships while earning a couple of MVP awards. ing, Zumba classes and a children’s circus.
