A Glance Back PHOTO BY SUSAN FRIED Local Jobs A brown bag discussion hosted by the Seattle City Council May, 29, looked at the possible benefits of a local hire ordinance in Seattle. Supporters of the Targeted Local Hire Coalition turned out in hundreds to urge the council to pass an ordinance that would require construction projects to hire local workers. Advocates say it would provide livable wage jobs and training for economically disadvantaged and racially diverse communities, that have been shut out of previous opportunities.
