Trailblazers GM Chris McGowan made the announcement as part of a press confer- ence to announce a 10-year partnership with Moda Health, the largest partnership in the team’s history. The new logo will incorporate a rose, at the request of owner Paul Allen. Physical transformations, including new signage and other visual elements will begin immediately. According to the organization, new graphics for the home court surface will be ready by the Blazers home opener against the San Antonio Spurs on Nov. 2. Dr. William Johnson, President of Moda Health, emphasized that the partnership would celebrate and encourage healthy urban living. Financial terms of the agreement were undisclosed. Initiatives for the partnership will include: Redesign and restoration of the landmark water and fire fountains outside the arena New food and beverage options for the Commons area and arena concessions Enhanced wayfaring signage and accessi- bility throughout the Rose Quarter Improvements to pedestrian traffic flow into the campus, including guests arriving from nearby commuter rail stations and bus stops Upgrading of the lands and the grounds around the Rose Quarter Seasonal community-building and enter- tainment programming on the Commons McGowan suggested the new food options will better reflect the food culture of Portland. No one was injured. Fire officials say the blaze at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and North Monroe was arson. They and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, are asking for public tips regarding any suspicious activity early that morning, with a reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible. Anyone having information about this crime should call the anonymous, toll-free ATF hotline, 1-888-ATF-FIRE (1-888-283-3473) March Set for Murdered Woman Ivanice Harris’s killer in Hawaii is still at large after suspect released F riends and family of Ivan- ice Harris, found dead in Oahu May 20, are holding a march in Portland to push for justice in the case. Marchers will leave the East side of the Hawthorne Bridge at noon, Aug.17, and head across the river to the Justice Center and City Hall. Friends in Las Vegas and Hawaii are also planning actions, says Andre Miller a longtime friend of Harris. Hawaii police are investigat- ing Harris’ death as a murder. In June, police arrested Marine Master Sgt. Nathaniel Cosby, the last known person to have seen her. But 48 hours later, on June 5, Cosby was released. Police said they did not have enough evidence to charge him. “We want to show support to Ivy’s family and make sure the military don’t shove this under the rug,” Miller said. “What’s really bad is that this man is a marine, someone who is sup- posed to protect us.” Harris was in Hawaii to cele- brate her 29th birthday with her boyfriend, Mark Miles, the Port- land-based rapper also known as Meezilini, and a woman friend. But she also worked as an escort and disappeared from Waikiki May 16 after meeting a client. Her naked body was found four days later next to the Farrington Highway near Yokohama Bay, about 40 miles north of where she was last seen. Miller says that Harris was an independent person who chose to work as an escort for a short time, so she could make some money.
