Local News COMMUNITY NEWS BRIEFS Sen. Jeff Merkley will hold a town hall meeting Jan 10 at 2 pm in Gre sham City Hall. Merkley says he will update constituents on his work in Washington, DC, answer questions and invite their suggestions about how to tackle the challenges facing Oregon and America. “Talking directly to Oregonians in every county is a great way to hear about the issues folks want me to fight for in Wash- ington,” Merkley says in a press release. “I urge all residents of Multnomah County to come and share their opinions and work with me to make our state and nation a stronger place.” Gresham City Hall Council Chambers are at 1333 Northwest Eastman Parkway. MHCC Hosts Summer Jobs and Career Fair Jan. 15 The Mt. Hood Community College (MHCC) Career Planning and Counseling Center (CPCC) is hosting its seventh annu- al Summer Jobs Career Fair, Jan. 15, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. in the Student Union at 26000 SE Stark Street in Gresham. This year, the CPCC is partnering with MHCC’s Project YESS program to offer a Natural Resources Career Exploration Fair concurrently, 11 a.m. - 1 p.m., upstairs from C O M the Student Union in the Jazz Café. Parking on all MHCC campuses is free, all days, all times. Some of the employers scheduled to attend include City of Gresham Parks, MHCC’s Aquatic Center, Metro regional government, Princess Tours and KOIN 6 Television. The Natural Resources Career Exploration Fair will include the U.S. For- est Service, the Bureau of Land Management, Metro regional government, MHCC’s Natural Resources program and others. Madison High School Library Book Sale The third annual Madison Library Book Sale will be held in the school cafeteria on Saturday, January 26 and Sunday, January 27 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. Find fantastic bargains on books from every genre - fiction, history and children’s books - as well as DVDs. On Saturday, hardback books go for $2.00, paperback and children’s books for 50 cents, oversized books for $3.00, and DVDs for 50 cents. On Sunday, everything is half price.
