The Hall of Fame Inductees this year are; Wheatfeild, Jeffery Frederick & the Clamtones, Sequel, dharma Burns, Sam Henry, Phil Baker, Bob Ancheta, George Touhouliotis and Norman “the Boogie Cat” Sylvester. Growing up in Louisiana until his family made the move to Oregon for work when he was 11 years old, he always had the blues, gospel and R&B roots of the South in his playing. Norman has been playing music in Portland since he graduated in 1963 from Jefferson High School. He began by playing with his friend Isaac Scott in church and before school at the entrance of Jefferson. Norman played in several soul bands for the next 20 years while keeping his day job at a trucking company and raising his six children. The Norman Sylvester Band was formed in the early 80’s and has featured many, many great musicians and vocalists from our community. The band is currently working on their fourth all original album to be released this winter.
