Now, the weatherman expects partly cloudy skies, with showers and rain in the Emerald Empire, tonight and Tues day. The bill had been before the House previously requiring the approval of a circuit judge for such marriages. But Eastern Oregon represen tatives protested that this would work a hardship on sparsely-populated areas, par ticularly Eastern OreRon, where circuit judges cover several counties. The bill passed Saturday would allow county judges to give the necessary consent. Rep. Grace Peck, one of the measure's sponsors, said the bill was an attempt to curb ill-advised Ji! hasty marriages, par ticularly in the case where the girl is pregnant. It was recommended by the Legislative Interim Committee on Social Problems. Rep. Shirley Field, R-Port-land, said she would support the bill, because "I think we should do anything we can to alow the rate of young marriages."
