protege of Segovia, will be making his first concert tour tn
America. The 21-year-old guitarist is one of the most heralded
musicians of his generation. He has made highly successful
debuts in London, Paris, and Madrid. Segovia has declared of
him that "it will not be long before bis name becomes a by
word ..."
The remarkable marionette theatre of Llords' "Interna
tional" is probably the most unusual concert attraction touring
today. It is a marionette ballet set to music; a series of
vignettes performed by a company of more than 200 puppets
manipulated by Daniel Llords. It Is a sophisticated return of
superb artistry to the marionette string, classed as serious adult
performance.
Henry L. Scott, who has been termed "The Will Rogers of
the Piano," is the originator and pioneer of concert humor in
America. He was trained in concert music at Syracuse Uni
versity and the Mannes School of Music and his artistry as a
pianist is not questioned. In addition, he adds the dimension
of laughter, gaiety and heartwarming uplift to music.
An American quartet that was termed "major" when it was
formed in 1954 Is tho Claremont Quartet. The group presents
a comprehensive repertory of chamber music ranging from
earliest master to the advanced moderns.
An ensemble that presents music of the recorder, viola da
gamba, and harpsichord is the Krainis Baroque Trio. The
groups, under the leadership of Bernard Krainis, offers a pro
gram that is at once vital and provocative. -
The Vlach Quartet, a Czechoslovakian chamber group that
has been acclaimed for outstanding musicianship, is another
feature of the Little Concert Scries. This quartot is considered
in the front rank of the world's chamber ensembles.
