Just take your vacuum to your chest or piece of furniture first and point the blower in at that little toe space! Then . . . stand by to vacuum up the dust as it comes rolling out at your feet! They planned to go first to Phoenix, where they will visit relatives and make side trips to Tucson and Tomb stone. Later they will go to Furnace Creek Inn in Death Valley, where they are to join Mr. and Mrs. Ed Thoman of Yakima, Wash., formerly of Eugene, and another Eugene couple. The women belonged to the same golf and bridge group for years before the Thomans were trans-, ferred. After a week of golf, bridge and swimming, the group will go to Las Vegas, where Ed Thoman, an ardent trap shooter, will compete in a shoot. A Valentine motif will be used for the setting in University Street Christian Church in Eu gene for the evening wedding Feb. 16 of a young Roedsport couple. The engagement of Patricia Gayle Mast and Edmond John Carlson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Peterson of Reedsport, was announced recently by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Mast of Reedsport, formerly of Eugene. The bride-to-be and her fiance both are 1958 graduates of Reedsport Union High School. Miss Mast attended University of Oregon and is now on three months leave of absence from Emanuel School of Nursing in Portland. She will resume her training there In March and will be graduated this fall. Mr. Carl son attended Menlo Park Junior College and recently completod four years In the Air Force. At present he is attending Port land State College where he is majoring in business adnunis tratlon. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Keith are looking forward to a visit this spring from their daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Robert Rounds of San Diego. The Rounds' will bring their two chil dren, Robert David, who is four, and little Karen Lynn, born Dec. 19. Bob Rounds, who also is from Eugene, is office manager for Commercial Credit Corp. in San Diego. Osborne, 2382 N. 5th St., Springfield. The second lesson on the use of mosaic tile will be given, with Mrs. Os borne as leader. Each woman attending is to take a metal lid such as is found on a pint-size cottage cheese carton, and a small paint brush of the type used for water-color painting. Other supplies will be furnished. I Poultry and Peaches For a new touch to an old favorite, marinate cut-up, salted broiler-fryers in a sauce of 1 cup catsup, cup syrup from canned cling peach halves, V cup salad oil, li cup vinegar and dash of Tabasco. Broil chicken slowly, basting often. Five min utes before serving, baste peach halves with sauce, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and broil. FLORENCE, Italy (UP!) Wo man emerged from the Italian spring-summer fashion collec tions in a blaze of color and with a "look" to suit every mood. The "Gothic," the "May-pole," the "lady bug" and the "box" were just a few of the looks of fered in the collection that drew the curtain on Florence's six day round-up of Italian fashion for international buyers and the press. The two dozen Italian high fashion designers who present ed collections in Pitti Palace during the week took different approaches to the problem of what to wear next season but agreed on a few basics. The hemline: Right where it was, just covering the knee. The colors: Turquoise and orange with sea shades of blue or green and apricots and tan gerines as close seconds. A soft and often sinuous mood, sometimes expressed in the shape of flowing capes, silky tunics, and sophisticated middy blouses. Emilio Pucci, who traveled far from the South Seas inspira tion of his casual collection, based his high fashion collec tion on the "Gothic" of his na tive Florence.
