The Wolverines, who ended the game with a frigid .181 mark from the field, trailed by 10 points at 38-28 with five minutes remaining in the game. Then Skelton, with some clutch help from Terry Stahel and Dave Syverson, went to work. The Lions, bothered by the tight defense work of the Wol verines, could get off only six shots in those last eight min utes. Skclton was all over the floor, stealing passes and harassing his opponents. Two frco throws by Phil Petersen and then a driving lay in by Syverson brought the Wolverines within one at 39-40 with 2:30 to go. Skelton then followed with an exhibition that won the game for the cold-shooting Wolver ines. Driving between two bewil dered Lions, Skelton put the Wolverines ahead for the first time at 41-40. Moments later he connected from 15 feet out. But the Lions weren't through as Lou Botuon drove in for a three-point play to tie things up at 43-43. Confusion reigned until little Stahel hit two free throws to put the Wolverines ahoad for good at less than 45 seconds remaining. The Lions had one more chance to tio it up, but Skelton stole the ball, and drove the length of tho floor for the bas ket that clinched the victory for the Wolverines. Skelton, scoring nine points In tho final quarter, ended the night with 14 points. Peterson added 10 to the winning cause. HAROLD MILLER Is It cheaper to buy your own home or to rent? Practically every family has asked that ques tion at one time or another. Ac tually, no single answer fits every family. But for most fam ilies, the answer leans strongly towards home ownership. Take government figures for example. The last Bureau of La bor Statistics report on the cost of owning versus buying was Is sued In 19M, It said: "Even with operating and oher recurring expenses added to mortgage pay ments, monthly cash outlays for housing were SMALLER for the average metropolitan family' who bought a new home In 1949-1950 than for those who rented neW dwellings." The story would probably be much the same to day. But there is another angle: A home owner actually saves part of his housing "expense" each month, through the increase In his "equity as the loan is paid off. Eventually, the home Is free and clear, slashing housing ex pense to a minimum. And all the while, the value of the home may be enhanced by rising values. Home owners receive many Intangible benefits too things like not having to move, a sense of security and of belonging, a choice of neighborhoods, perma nent roots for their children. Consider ALL the advantages of home ownership. Then we know you'll vote to "start look ing.' May we help you? TZeaty 160 E. 18th Ave. Ph. DI 46013 .
