Movie I Home" Movie Delinquency First Mission School Topic Wesley Methodist Church. Eugene, will open its annual School of Missions Sunday with a program on juvenile delin quency. For the program, scheduled to begin with a "light meal" at 5:30 p.m., followed by the study program at 6:30 p.m., the church has scheduled Russell Tompkins, principal of Willa kenzie Elementary School, as speaker. General theme for this year's School of Missions will be "Arm ;of Compassion," and the study 'will be based on the home mis sions study guide, "Who Cares," ; which deals with the possibili ties of church service and the ; responsibility of churches to "persons of special need." In line with this theme, the .church has scheduled future programs on Sunday evenings : throughout January on juvenile ; delinquency and "psychology ! for juveniles." ' The public is welcome. Nur cry care will be provided for pre-school children, and special classes are scheduled for other age groups. Wage Hearing Set in Salem SALEM m A public hear ing on employment standards for hospitals and nursing homes -will be held in Portland Tues day by the State Wage and Hour Commission. The hearing will open at 10 a.m. at the State Office Bldg. ; The standards cover employ ment of women and minors. The minimum wages, as pro . posed by a Hospital Conference -Board, are 90 cents an hour for experienced workers in hospi tals and nursing homes, 85 cents for experienced persons in homes for the aged and child care agencies, TO cents for in experienced workers. The final movement of Cesar Franck's "Symphony in D Minor and Aaron Copland's "El Salon Mexico will be presented. Jackie Gleason" will not be seen tonight. 7:30 p.m., Sam Benedict (13-8) -A good show because of per formances by Howard Duff and Ida Lupino. Duff plays the role of a realtor accused of a large embezzlement. Miss Lupino acts as his wife and an old flame of Benedict's which complicates matters. 8:30 p.m.. The Defenders (6) Interesting drama from both legal and moral point of view entitled "Kill Or Be Killed.' Marshall defends a man who commits a crime en route to Sing Sing just as his innocence of an earlier crime is being established. LINDA SCOTT '61 North Enoene Gradiinle Methodists Slate Special Meeting First Methodist Church, Eu gene, has called a special quar terly conference meeting and congregational meeting Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the church. The Rev. Norman Conard, pastor, said the meetings were called in order to satisfy Meth odist procedures for property acquisition. At present, the church is in the process of starting a re location program, involving the sale of the present church site at 1185 W llamctte St., and con struction of a new church, church school facilities and fel lowship facilities on the west side of Oak Street, between 12th and 13th Avenues. Sale of the present church site will not be on the agenda Friday night, the Rev. Conard said. He said that business be fore the two meetings will in clude "technicalities" arising from proposed purchase of land on Oak Street. The future missionary, Linda Scott, will work in an interde nominational missionary pro gram, United raith Mission, with headquarters in Honolulu. Later, she may be transferred from the central headquarters to other work in the Islands. Miss Scott, a 1961 graduate of North Eugene High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Scott of 218 Hardy Ave., Eugene. She is a member of First Baptist Church, Eugene, which honored her New Year's Eve at a reception. Following graduation from high school. Miss Scott attended Judson Baptist College in Port land for one year, and then went to night school at Mult nomah Bible College, also in Portland. She said in an interview this week that she first became interested in the mission through her grandmother, Mrs. Glenn Harndcn, who had be come acquainted with its work while in Hawaii. Three years ago, Miss Scott said, she met the mission's di rectors, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Blomerly, when the missionaries visited Eugene. Her duties with the mission will be varied. At first, she said, she expects to be working with Christian Crusaders, a youth program for girls, and also with Hawaiians of Samoan nationality. I ve got so many things I can do." she said, explaining that only a small proportion of the residents of Hawaii are Chris tians, making the Islands a good mission field.
