Thun., Dec. 13, 1962 t ' 'Round the State Schools and Pools Ruled Compatible SALEM UPl School districts can issue bonds to build swim ming pools and gymnasiums, the Oregon Supreme Court ruled unanimously Wednesday. The decision upheld a $360,000 bond issue of the Gresham School District No. U2-20. The bond issue will finance construc tion of swimming pools at two hiKh schools. The law provides for issuance ings. Roscoe L. Fanning challenged the bond issue, saying that swimming pools aren't school buildings under the law. Huss Asked , To Reveal Expenditures SALEM tfl The Marion County district attorney has asked the circuit court to order Portland's Freedom Center and its director, Walter Huss, to file statements of campaign ex- 'Pense in connection with the I November election. The request for the order : was filed this week by Dist. - Atty. Hattle Kremen. ' The complaint charges Huss with circulating material during the campaign "affecting the can didacy of Rep. Edith Green." , Secretary of Slate Howell Ap- ; pling Jr. had asked Huss to ! file a statement because of the distribution of a pamphlet about ' Mrs. Green, the Democratic candidate for Congress. She was reelected. Huss denied that his organiza tion was political, and denied , any "campaign literature or ex penses for or against Mrs. Green or any other candidate." Huss contended that the material was educational. Appling replied that the elec tion laws could "become a mock rry" if this argument were al lowed to prevail. Request Approved SALEM (UPD Western Union Telegraph Co., New York, has been authorized by the Oregon public utility commissioner to increase and extend $82 million in loan agreements affecting its 1963-65 nationwide construction program. "In i number of instances," Dykstra said, 'the levels of these chemicals in the edible tissues of game species exceed the tolerances permitted in do mestic meats."
