Selection of the play com pletes the league s schedule for the coming season. "The Tenth Man" is a com edy-drama. Its plot centers on a Jewish community and its ef forts to drive "evil spirits" from a woman believed pos sessed." The play has had a long run on Broadway. Chayefsky rose to fame as a television writer. Probably his most famous effort was Mar ty," later made into a movie. "The Tenth Man" was directed on Broadway by Tyrone Guth rie, a New York director who spoke at the University of Ore gon a few years ago. A league spokesman said campaign for renewal member ships for those now in the lea gue will be held from Aug. 15 through Sept. 15. New member ships will be solicited from Oct. 8-13, she said. Admission to the four plays is by league membership only, with prices ranging downward from $18 for the four plays. The Portland Broadway The ater League is selling tickets to individual plays this year, but the spokesman said the Eugene league plans to stick to the "membership only" plan. Firemen to Burn House on Sunday The Santa Clara volunteer fire department will burn a par tially demolished house Sunday at 310 Irving Rd. The house burning is part of tho department's training pro gram. It was donated by Mr. and Mrs. Clyde T. Parker who are planning a new home on the site. The training will begin at 12:30 p.m. standard, 1:30 p.m. daylight. Cars eastbound on Irv ing Road will detour on Fern dale Drive. Design Approved For Park Building The Lane County Parks and Recreation advisory commission Thursday night approved the design of a new concession build ing at Baker Bay on Dorena Reservoir. The building will contain 648 square feet of enclosed floor space. Outside it will feature a covered eating terrace. Parks Supt. Paul Beistcl estimated the cost at $5,071 not counting the labor of parks department personnel. Some $5,000 is appropri ated for the building in the department's current budget. The commission approved an experimental arrangement for two months under which the county parks department will handle the maintenance of Whittaker Creek recreation area, a new park built by the Bureau of Land Management. The BLM will pay the county $100 a month for the service. The BLM requested the county to maintain the area since it is near other county parks on Route F. The commission also recommended that the county commis sioners approve an agreement with the State Game Commission providing for a new boat launching ramp on the Siuslaw River. The ramp would be one and a half miles above Mapleton. The game commission would build the boat launching ramp and contribute $6,500 of the purchase price for the two and a half acres. The county would build sanitary facilities and picnic tables plus contributing $2,000 of the purchase price. Beistel told the commission the field crew is now working at Bohemia Saddle, Triangle Lake and Zumwalt park. A swim ming area at Zumwalt on Fern Ridge Lake should be completed next week. VFW Plans 'AnnualCamp . Willamette Post 293 and Aux iliary, Veterans of Foreign Wars, will hold its annual camp out and picnic Saturday and Sunday at Clark Creek Recre ation area on Big Fall Creek. Programs, games and other activities are scheduled. Sunday's special activities will include a breakfast at the camp site from 6 to 8:30 a.m. standard, 7 to 9:30 a.m. day light. The post will furnish meat, ice cream, beverages, hot dogs and buns for a Sunday potluck dinner. Signs will be posted along the route to the campground to direct V.F.W. members. George W. Reiter of Eugene is picnic chairman, and Leonard Ander son of Eugene is co-chairman. Hiram Lee Rites Monday Funeral services will be held Monday for Hiram Elmer Lee, 93, of 2180 Henderson St., Eu gene, who died Tuesday. Lee, who was active in the logging and lumber business, had been a resident of Oregon all his life. He was born in Creswcll, Jan. 28, 1869. Ho had 10 children by his first wife, Josephine. He mar ried Josephine's sister, Grace, 'n 1956 after his first wife's death. Lee was a member of the Free Methodist Church of Springfield. He is survived by his wife, Grace, of Eugene; two sons, Ernest of Roscburg, and Reuel of Seattle; five daughters, Helen Phillips and Esther Sanders, both of Eugene, Mary Rand of San Diego, Virginia Ruth Har rison of Everett, Wash., and I'hebe Powers of Snohomish, Wash.; one brother, Joseph of Empire, and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. Monday's services will be in the Buell Chapel at 10 a.m. standard, 11 a.m. daylight with Rev. Alvin G. Delamartcr of ficiating. Interment will foll.w in Brumbaugh Blue Mountain Cemetery. Potts, a veteran of World War 1, died Wednesday at the Veter ans Hospital in Portland. He and his family lived in Eugene until 10 years ago, when they moved to Portland.
