The National Safety Council said traffic accidents killed 3,110 pei'5ons in April, a record and an increase of 4 per cent over April 1961. Among cities of more than one million population, Chicago continued in first place for the lowest death rate during the first four months with 58 fa talities for 1.8 deaths per 10,000 registered vehicles. Los Ange les, with 132 deaths for a rate of 3.0, was second. The death rate for Detroit and Philadelphia was 3.3 and New York's was 4.9, with traffic fatalities of 67, 60 and 236, respectively.
