The hjoodhounds, owned by Norman Wilson of Dallas , led the party to the new trail afUr spending the night following the scent from a rough camping spot discovered by se.archcrs Sunday aiiernoon near auns cuite. Woodsmen said Hibbs had ap- ently slept Saturday night at (thc camp, located about five miles northeast of the lake. Snow had been trampled down and boughs gathered to form a bed. They said Jiis trail led to with 50 yards of the McKonzie Highway, which is still covered with snow in the area. Hibbs then yeered back toward the southeast in the direction jf near by North Sister mountain. The fresh trail was discovered Monday morning about four miles east of Linton Lake along Obsid ian Creek. The search party, com posed of about 35 men, was fol lowing the trail back toward the lake when the last report was is sued by radio. Snowdrifts up to four feet deep cover the ground in the moun tainous section where the search moved Sunday afternoon. Pre vious searching nad been cen tered around an area north of Linton Lake where Hibbs' sweat er was discovered by the blood hounds early Saturday, An all-night search of the area by the bloodhounds ended Sun day morning with no fresh sign of the missing man. The dogs and their owner had abandoned the search before the sleeping-place was discovered Sunday afternoon, The does were rushed back to the camp-site and placed on the trail. After following the trail overnight, the searchers estimat ed the trail was only a few hours old at the point where they found the fresh footprints in the snow. Hibbs, a native of South Da kota, had been visiting his daugh ter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Piper of Blue River. Piper called the U. S. Forest Service when the elderly man failed to return from Linton Lake Thurs day night. The search for Hibbs began Friday morning. A map of the trail covered by the bloodhounds indicated that he wandered north from the lake about half a mile to the point where he lost or discarded his sweater. Then he turned toward the northeast, following an up hill course to the point where his camping spot was found by searchers Sunday. From there, the trail led back toward the south. Relatives said Hibbs had no food or water with him and was dressed in light clothing. Weather in the area had been mild until Sunday night, when temperatures dropped and fresh snow fell. One extra paid holiday a year. Improvements in the hospital-medical-insurance plan. Other portions of the original GM settlement proposal rejected by the UAW were not among the settlement terms. These included an opportunity for employes to buy company stock at half price, Interest-free loan plan for laid-off workers, and separation pay. REUTHER HAPPY Ford had also offered these stock-loan-separation pay provi-! sions out met with a UAW rejec tion. Reuther said the new agree ment "without doubt compares favorably with the Ford agree ment. Up to now, a "modified union (Continued From Page One) shop" has been la effect in GM plants. Under that arrangement. employes not belonging to the union when the agreement was signed were not forced to become union members, but new employ es were required to join the union. Now all employes will be forced to join the union within 60 days to hold their jobs. Reuther said less than 5 per cent of hourly rated GM workers are presently non-union. 'MEDICAL UMPIRE' Reuther said the union gained mure improvements in me work ing agreement of the new contract than in all previous contracts since 1941 combined., These, he said, include faster and more ef fective hearings on grievances, more even distribution of over time, and establishment of "medical umpire" to rule on any questions over worker entitlement to sickness benefits. Reuther- said the company and union had been in agreement for some time on the guaranteed wage issue. He indicated this had not been an issue 'in the long weekend bargaining wrangle.
