MUSICAL GIFT Inspecting some of the records that the John Phetteplace Guild re cently presented to the Children's Hospital School are Mrs. Edgar Wiberg, Guild presi dent ,and two of the school pupils, Herbert Cobb, 8'2, and Janet Kellis, 4. In addition to the records, the Guild has donated to the school $700 which was collected through various projects, including the annual silver show. Craft Show To Exhibit Local Work The Professional Craft Show at Eugene Art Center on the Fairgrounds will open Friday at 7:30 p.m., with a reception ' in honor of exhibitors. The crafts men all are local people and all work shown is original. In the ceramics division Vic toria Azakian Ross, University of rifoann instructor, will disDlav students' work as well as her own. Other exhibitors in ceram ics will be Ruth Curtis, Jim and Bonnie Bartcll, and Ethel Porter, j Weavers' Guild of Eueene will have charge of a weaving disDlay under the direction of Marie Hatch. The show will be open to the public free of charge from 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday. Honored guests will be the 1055 Women of Achievement named by the alumna members of the journalism honorary. These in clude: Kay Bollam, director of The Oregonian Hostess House; Guild Officers To Be Installed Mrs. P. L. Hcrbig, vice presi dent of the Central Deanery of Episcopal Church Guilds, will in stall officers of St. John's Episco pal Church Guild Thursday, be ginning with a noon luncheon in the church. Also announced will be the win ner of the Edith Knight Hill Memorial Award. This award, is presented to the person who has made an outstanding contribu tion to Oregon. Edith Knight Hill was known to Oregon newspaper readers as Marian Miller. For many years she conducted a column in The Portland Oregonian. Past win ners have been Dr. Burt Brown Barker, Ben Hur Lampman, Ste wart Holbrook and George Palmer Putnam. Featured speaker will be Helen Murray Hall, Hollywood, Cal., manager of advertising and pro motion for the National Broad casting Company, western divi sion. She will talk about "Women Behind the Screen in Network Television." The Matrix Table Banquet is a traditional affair sponsored each year by all alumna and student chapters of Theta Sigma Phi and serves as a gathering place for some of Oregon's best known men and women. DUV Auxiliary Officer to Visit Mrs. Edith McCoy of Salem, department inspector, will be a special guest at the Thursday meeting of Martha Bamford Tent 18, Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. The meeting wil be in Veterans Memorial Bldg. with a potluck luncheon planned for 12 noon and the business session for 1:30 p.m. United States flags will be pre sented to three Scout troops. Mrs. Richard Kcmm will be chairman for the luncheon and Mrs. George Thompson will be in charge of decorations. Reception Attended Three Eugene women attended a recent reception in Portland which honored department offic ers of the Sons of Union Veter ans of the Civil War and auxil iary, given in the DAV Hall. They were Mrs. Mae E Washburne, de partment prestdent; Mrs. L. L. Baker, chief of staff, and Mrs. Ella Bray, organizer, all auxiliary members. Salem Novelist To Autograph Logan Forstcr, Salem novelist, will be guest at an autograph ing party for his latest publics tion, "Desert Storm," at Russell's book department Saturday, April 16. The book is a story for older children, featuring a boy and his horse. Mr. Forster has been visiting his twin sisters, Mrs. Clarence E. Brenneman and Mrs. William E. Heacock, in Eugene and ap pearing at local junior high schools and Eugene High School, where he has given talks to writ ing classes.
