Thurs.,Oct.21,1954 DC Eugene Zontians Attend District i Convention Five members of Eugene Zonta Club have returned from District VIII Conference at the Morck Hotel jn Aberdeen, Wash. There were 134 women present from ciuos in Washington, Oregon, Idaho and British Columbia. A reception Friday evening was at tended by delegates and mem bers. Miss Ellen Fireoved, executive secretary of Zonta International, addressed the conference Satur day morning. Her topic was 'Functions of the Personnel at, Zonta Headquarters." The noon luncheon was in her honor. Speaker at the luncheon was Mrs. John Pinckney, of Aberdeen Soroptimist Club. Beta Sigma Phi entertained with a style show of the 1800's called "Among My Souvenirs." Saturday afternoon a Service Workshop was led by Mrs. Walter Huffaker. Miss Clara Nasholm was the recorder. Speakers were from the Coos Boy, Roseburg and Astoria clubs. The Hon. Russell C. Mack, con gressman from Grays Harbor, was speaker at a banquet Saturday evening. Lyric Singers from Aberdeen sang and members of the Aberdeen club presented a "Parade of Hats." Eight members of the Shclton-Mason club sang parodies about the "Parade of Hats." Sunday morning the Rev.j Norris Twitchell of St. Andrews Episcopal Church was speaker. All those speaking used phrases of "Let's Grow in Understanding, Fellowship and Service" for their talks. . j Mrs. Ella Harris, Vancouver, B.C., was elected district gover nor and Mrs. Gladys Puckett of Spokane lieutenant governor. The 1956 Zonta International Convention will be at Sun Valley,1 with District VIII as hostess. Miss Susan Wilcox o Seattle, retiring governor of the district, will be; convention chairman. ! Eugene members attending were Mrs. Huffaker, delegate;1 Mrs. Gordon German, alternate, and Mrs. Fanny Marlatte, Miss Nasholm and Mrs. J. S. Rosen crans.
