Portland Man
New Tarzan
HOLLYWOOD, Calif. m-The
new Tarzan of the films is Gor
don Werschkul, 25, a native of
Portland,
Werschkul, whose film name
is Gordon Scott, was selected
Tuesday by Producer Sol Lesser
from a group of 15 contenders
for the role.
Lesser offered the muscular
young man a screen test after
he was spotted in a newsreel
shot at Las Vegas, .Nov., hotel
swimming pool where he was
working as a life guard.
Werschkul becomes the 11th
man to be cast as Tarzan since
the first of the film scries was
cast In 1918.
Nobody, I figure, ever read a whis
key advertisement and ran hot-foot
to the store to switch his brand.
No, Sir like all friendship it
takes time. You have Schcnley at a
friend's home, and it tastes right
good. One day you buy a bottle
yourself. Then pretty soon, you
won't settle for anything else.
In fact, making good blended
whiskey is a patient process, too.
That's what this hourglass is about.
The! glass itself represents Na
ture's unhurried goodness. The big
"S" stands for Schcnlcy's skill. To
gether, they make Schcnley the best
tasting whiskey in ages.
If you're not a customer already,
we hope to have the pleasure soon.
