Walla Walla Choir Appears in Concert The annual sacred concert given by the A Cappela Choir of Walla Walla College, Cs!lcge Place, Wash., will be. presented Sunday, March 21 at 3 p.m. in the Eugene Seventh-Day Adventist Church at 13th and Polk. Under the direction of Profes sor Clarence W. Dortch, the 42 membcr group, in peacock blue robes and white stoics, is on the regular spring tour, presenting programs in the cities of Toppen ish, Chchalis and Portland, in Columbia and Laurclwood aca demics, here in Eugene, and then in Salem Sunday evening and at the Oregon State Capitol Monday morning where they have a stand ing invitation to sing on the mar ble steps of the rotunda. The choir is away from the school over a five day period. There is no admission charge, although an expense offering is taken. Traveling in a chartered Grey hound, W.W.C.'s A Capella Choir returns here bi-annually. Fea tured soloists and smaller ensem bles give variety to tjie perform ance of the choir, composed of both lower and upper division music students, with several sen- lore singing the leading roles. A St. Merlin Kretchmar asked for cooperation of other groups so a better and more Christian job may be done for those in need. He also reported on "religious freedom" and as a result the Ministerial Association will send letters to representatives of the House and Senate in Washington, the Federal Council of Churches, and officers in the Pentagon, rel ative to cirt martials held in Alaska. The Ministerial Association placed several pieces of business in the hands of committee with green lights and power to act, The Good Friday group to ar range a union service is corn nosed of The Rev. Harold Shell- hart, the Rev. Charles Boutwell and the Rev. Ernest Worden. No location has been selected but hours decided upon are twelve to three p.m. Other announcements will be made later. The Rev. William Stephens, the Rev. Harlan Mummert, and the Rev. Harold Shellhart will plan the union Easter Sunrise service.. Dual plans will be laid If weather permits an outdoor service will be held. Arrange ments will be made to move the service into the Memorial Build ing if it becomes necessary. Clavton Anderson, superinten dent, was present to thank the body for its fine cooperation in the church-park recreation pro gram which has been a winter activity. Anderson said "the community seems ready for a re creational leadership training course. 'Prior Claim New Moody Film Shows 'New' Discovers as Old A queer little fellow who sports a multi-colored wardrobe, a built in lasso tongue, and ball-turret eyes stars in a new science film just released, proving that nature had it first. He is a chameleon, and he is a part of the Moody Institute of Science film. "Prior Claim," which will be shown at River Road Baptish Chapel, Thursday, March 18, 7:30 p.m., and at Berean Baptist Chapel Friday, March 19, 7:30 p.m. inc camera also ferrets out such intriguing facts of nature as the elephant seal which suf fers from stomach ulcers, a snake equipped with its own "sniper scope" or thermal receptors, a diving spider which makes its own diving bell, a bird which flies like helicopter. "Prior Claim," which runs about 50 minutes, is in full color and is accompanied by commen tary. It is the sixth in the "Ser-I mons from Science" series of gospel-science films produced by Dr. Irwin A. Moon of the Moody In stitute of Science, Los Angeles, a branch of- Moody Bible Insti tute, Chicago. The Ridenours stated that they especially wish to thank everyone who responded to the call for additional supplies Pope Marks Anniversary VATICAN CITY Pope Pius XII, continuing to improve slow ly from his long ailment, happily read messages from over the world Friday congratulating him upon the 15th anniversary of his coronation. The white and gold flags of the Vatican State flew from the papal buildings. For the second consecutive year high prelates and diplomats assembled before an emntv. white papal throne in the Sistine Chapel for a mass in honor of the anniversary. His empty throne was decor ated Friday with his seal a white dove with an olive sprig in its beaK, perched above storm waters. Vatican sources said the Pope again had passed a fairly rest ful night and that his slow Im provement from the gastric ail- ment- that has confined him to his Vatican apartment for 46 days continued. Central Pres: Work Staff Takes Office Newly elected Elders, Deacons, and Trustees of Central Presby terian Church will be ordained and installed in office at the 11 o'clock worship service on March 14. The Rev. Paul S. Mellish will, preach at both the 9:30 and 11 o'clock services. A Sunday eve ning Lenten service will be held in the. church at 7:30 p.m., with Mr. Mtllish preaching on "The Value of the Individual." The Senior High Westminster Fellowship will meet in the Par ish House at 6 p.m. Sunday for a planning conference. On Monday evening a group from Central Church will be go ing to Albany to hear Dr. John Mackay, Moderator of the Gen eral Assembly of the Presby terian Church, who will speak at 7:45 p.m. in the First Presby terian Church of Albany. The Junior High Westminster Fellowship will meet at the church at 4 p.m. on Wednesday. A "Creative Writing" interest group will be started this week. Lee Walker mangled his right index finger in a circular saw while cutting wood at his home and had it amputated at the first ioint. The Senior Class' Chili Feed and Cake Walk was a big success, nettine over $100. which will be used to help finance the trip to San Francisco In May.
