MRS. WILLIAM B. SIMMONS (Doris Evelyn Smith) was a bride of Feb. 21 in First Baptist Church. The couple is at home near Junction City where the bridegroom is a bulb grower. Golden Age Club Program Tuesday Golden Age Club will have a program arranged by J. A. Mc Kevitt at its Tuesday evening meeting at Washington Street Recreation Center. The club meets each week at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments, which are taken by members, are optional. Last Tuesday evening 117 mem bers and guests enjoyed an amus ing program by Wylbert Brown, the "funny, fantastic, fiddlin' wizard." Further information about the club may be had by calling the president, T. H. Baxter, at 4-6569. Re-Active Club Meets at Del Rey Eugene Re-Active Club will meet Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the upstairs of the Cafe Del Rey. Mrs. 0. D. Martin will be hostess chairman, assisted by Mrs. James Moorhouse, Mrs. Robert Norris and Mrs. Glenn Cougill. Museum Director Soroptimist Speaker Mrs. E. E. Tall white cadelabra holding white tapers with arrangements of pink and white tulips, white stock and ferns tied to the cande labra with white satin bows were used as decorations for the wed ding of Miss Doris Evelyn Smith of Eugene and William B. Sim mons of Junction City Feb. 21 at First Baptist Church. The double-1 ring ceremony was performed by Dr. Vance H. Webster at 3 p.m. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. Roy Smith of Eu gene, and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Bert Sim mons of Junction City. Mr. Smith gave his daughter in marriage. Her floor-length gown of white brocade was fashioned with a sweetheart neckline, long pointed sleeves and peplum. Her fingertip veil was held by a cor onet of pearls and rhinestoncs. She carried a white orchid with shattered carnations and baby orchids atop a white Bible. Miss Arlcne Smith, sister of the bride, was maid-of-honor in rose- colored taffeta dress. Her cres cent bouquet of pink and white tulips and white hyacinths was tied with whitetreamers. Bridesmaids were Miss Lois Campbell and Miss Neva Tonoli, the latter the bride s cousin. Miss Campbell wore pale green taffeta and Miss Tonoli was in pale gold taffeta made like the honor maid's dress, and their bouquets were similar to hers. Beryl Baker of North Bend, brother-in-law of the groom, was best man, anu ushers were Norman Benton of Creswell, Ray Harper of Junction City, Tom Marlow and Dean Loge of Eugene. Lowell Chase sang "My Won derful One" and "0 Promise Me," accompanied by Mrs. Charles Roffe, who also played wedding music. A reception in the church fol lowed the ceremony. The bride's table was laid with a lace cloth and centered with a square tiered cake. Mrs. Arthur R. Beebe, Mrs. D. D. Dickinson of Eugene and Mrs. Everett J. Price of Leaburg cut and served cake. Mrs. Ray Har per and Mrs. William Harper of Junction City served punch and poured coffee. Gifts were received by Mrs. Danny Pitman. For their wedding trip to the coast and California, Mrs. Sim mons was a dar kblue crepe dress and coat with black accessories and the white orchid from her bouquet. The- couple is at home near Junction City on Route 2, where the groom is a bulb grow er. Salem Organist To Perform Here Josef Schnelkcr, organist, will be presented in recital Sunday, March 7, at 4 p.m., at University of Oregon school of music audi torium. Sponsors of the program are Eugene Chapter of American Guild of Organists and University of Oregon school of music. Schnclker is a member of the faculty of Willamette University in Salem. He holds degrees from Oberlin Conservatory of Music and University of Michigan, and also has studied with Hugh Porter and Carl '"'einrich. He has given recitals in New York, in Mid western cities and on the Pacific Coast, and was selected as one of the recitalists at American Guild of Organists Convention in Ta- coma during 19S3. Ladies of Elks Name Hostesses Hostesses have been named for the Ladies of the Elks card party Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the Elks Temple. They are Mrs. W. J. Donier, contract bridge; Mrs. C. R, Ellingson, auction bridge; Mrs. C. W. Bullivant, pinochle; and Mrs. S. K. Coburn, canasta. Officers will bo nominated at this meeting. Talks on Fuchsias Slated by Society Eugene rucnsia society win meet Monday at 8 p.m. at Skinner Butte Cottage. Harold Allison will give a talk on pruning and potting of fuchsias and will dem onstrate pruning. Don Davis will give a short talk on ' What To Do for Fuchsias in March." A business w eting will follow the talks. Visitors are welcome. Reviews Slated For Nurse Group Eugene Practical Nurses Assn. will hear a program of three medical reviews when it meets Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Wheeler Room of First Congrcga tional Church. Sun., Feb. 28, 1954 5C Potts-Roberts Rites Recent Miss Shirley Roberts of Harris- burg and Alvin Potts of Junction City were married Sunday, Feb. 14, in a 3 p.m. ceremony at the home of the bride's .parents in Harrisburg. The Rev. E. W. Ang lin of Assembly of Jesus Christ Church performed the ceremony. Mr. and Mrs. Press Roberts of Harrisburg are parents of the bride. Parents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Troy Potts of Harrison, Ark. Mr. Roberts gave his daughter in marriage. She wore a poudre- blue suit with white accessories. Attending her sister as maid-nf- honor was Miss Rosa Lee Roberts. She wore a navy blue suit with red accessories. Best man was DeWayne Crabb of Harrisburg. , Yellow daffodils decorated the , Roberts home. A wedding reception followed the ceremony with Mrs. Louella Willis cutting the wedding cake and Mrs. Vera Anglin serving punch.
