Stocks Read To Curb Order Lifting of Controls Stimulates Trading NEW YORK nn New stimu lants brought the slock market out of a reaction Wednesday after its active response Tuesday to re duccd marcin requirements. Prices firmed at a moderately active opening. Soon thereafter the list dipped in all major sec tions and volume fell off sharply. Then the Office of Price Stabili zation removed price controls on a long list of items, including cop per, some steel products, cigarets, and aluminum. Coppers met immediate demand with, gains ranging to 2 points. American Tobacco and Reynolds "B" rose to new highs nn predic tions cigarct prices would be lifted at least a cent a pack. Copper com panies raised their prices three to four cents a pound. Oils generated strength as one of the major companies raised gas oline prices. Television issues were bid up on outlook for heavy sales of instruments in new TV areas. Pharmaceuticals were in better demand. Aircrafts moved up, several to new highs, on favor able earnings reports and predic tions of more to come. Air condi tioning issues responded to predic tions of big business for that in dustry. Special issues rose as much as 2 points. Pepsi-cola continued to lead in activity. Leading groups, including steels, motors, utilities, and chemicals firmed. Sales rose after the early decline, but the total was under Tuesday. The building is owned by Hines Lumber Co. This is the only service station in Westfir. Vale will take possession sometime this week after inven tory is completed. Long runs the Oakridge-Westfir truck line and operates a large beef cattle ranch. Vale was a mechanic for Hines. Cliff Stauffer will stay on at the station as an attendant.
