out the contest, climbed to within
four points of the Warriors, at 62-
58, midway in the fourth quarter
but Center Paul Tuchardt poured
in nine straight points to assure
victory for Coach Lee Keedcr's
lads.
The victory was the eighth with
out a loss for Oakridge in league
competition, the 13lh in a row, and
the 19th in 21 starts.
Oakridge, with Tuchardt, Guard
Bunky Beard, and Forward Allic
Clark leading the attack, rolled to
a 23-11 lead after the first quarter
and owned a comfortable 43-30
margin at halftime.
Center Larry Walsh, along with
guards Fred Cerkeney and Jerome
Poissant, paced a St. Francis
comeback in the third period as the
Saints closed Ihc gap to 51-44 at the
start of the final session.
St. Francis continued to whittle
Ihc deficit until that four-point def
icit when Tuchardt settled the issue.
Tuchardt collected 20 points while
Beard led all scoring with 22 and
Walsh netted 15 for the Sainls. Jim
Hancy collected 25 in leading Oak
ridge to a 42-41 jayvee overtime

Oregon State, failing to take ad

nevertheless dominated the first
half. But Washington State surged
ahead early in the third period on
a pair of field goals by forward
Bob Swanson and another by high
point man Pete Mullins.
The basket gave the Cougars a
32-27 lead and they were ahead
by no less than four points from

a lay-in. He added two freethrows
to give Drain a 32-29 margin but
Dale Marshall countered with a
