E. Pomeroy family at 1205 Lake Dr. by Kenneth Dart. It was modeled after a house Mrs. Tom eroy liked in Oswego by Portland Architect Van Event Bailey. The house, 07 feel in length and 31 and one quarter feet wide, was built long and low to make the most of its wedge-shaped corner lot. With the outer wall of the carport facing the side street form ing an attractive barrier, the line of privacy will be extended by landscaping to enclose a patio for the Pomeroys that will run the en tire length of the house. Glassed areas and doors from the living area and recreation room, together with the low-lying asphalt tile cov ered concrete slab floor, open the house into this outdoor living space. The interior of the house has a free and open feeling with the un mistakable goal of easy and pleas ant living. Yet, traffic patterns have been carefully worked into the design so that various activi ties within the house do not inter fere with one another. A feature of such planning is found in the free use of outside doors. There is easy access from carport to kilch- O M F O put. The work area, with half bath, is confined to the front of the house while play and relaxation areas join the patio in the rear. The recreation room is suitably located between the main part of the house and carport. Bedrooms form the north wing of the house, the most secluded section. Natural finished combed cedar paneling, combined with wall pa per, enhance the informal plan of ine house by giving a gracious warmth to its interior. The feeling is carried out in the varicolored vertical blinds of nylon used at the windows. They can be used as shades or draperies. An oil system of perimeter ra diant heating has been used to con- trot heating of the house. This con sists of nine inch pipes that bound tne exterior, that criss cross under the floor from the corners. Heat is tunneled out through floor vents. An outstanding feature of the design is the angled roof, glass- paneien 10 ine west, mat rises above and relieves the flat roof line. Inside, it adds considerably to the spacious effect by flooding the living area with daylight. Seen from the outside at night it is a distinctive attraction for the panels glow a soft blue from the indirect lighting beneath them.
