Employe groups have areueri th:it 01 . frequently in the past have used UI imagined Heavy workloads as an excuse to deny employes the use of annual leave Expected result of this provision is that agencies will have to schedule vacations for their work ers far in advance and stick to them in order to be fair to the employes. This in turn is expected to limit the flexibility of govern ment agencies' ability to meet un expected, temporary workloads. Passage of the rider will mark the second consecutive year in which Congress has further lim ited government leave privileges. Last year it put into effect the so called graduated leave system giving employes (except postal workers) 13 to 26 days leaves yearly depending on length of service, rather than 26 days for everyone. Draftees Get Last Minute Service Pick WASHINGTON iff) If you are about to be drafted, you can join the service of your choice provided you do it before your in duction notice arrives. That's been the case for several months, but now the defense de partment made it an official, per manent policy. For the past year, the services have been suspending from month to month an inter-service agreement which prohibited men from volunteering for services after they had their pre-induc-tion physical tests. The Army is now the only ser vice depending on the draft for men. The Air F'orce and Navy have kept at strength through volunteers. The Marine Corps brought in draftees for a few months during a build-up to its present strength of 200,000 but has now resumed its traditional practice of accepting only. volunteers. Assistant Secretary of Defense Anna Rosenberg said the new policy will save manpower and money.
