The yearly increase would be
computed on the basis of an ad
ditional $30 for each six months
elapsed between the dale a work
er retired and Oct. 1, M.W. How
ever, the maximum raise would
be limited to $324 annually or 25
per cent of the present rate,
whichever is smaller.
The increase would end if the
consumers' price index kept by
the Bureau of Labor Statistics
drops, for three consecutive
months, below the index for
April, 1948 (1(19.9). As of last
mid-April, the index stood at
1B8.7.
Food spoilage is caused by bacteria.

home where they have resided for
a number of years, to Vale, where
they plan to reside.
At one time the Green Peak
District supported two schools, the
Green Peak and the Trout Creek
schools, but first one family and
then another left the area until
only one family of children re
mained. This district was consol
idated with Bellfountain District
No. 23 of Benton Comity several
years ago.
Mr. and Mrs. James T. Miller,
who sold their Dawson property
this spring ahd moVed to Alpine,
are now residing In one bt Ihe G.
M. Gragg rehtal houses north of
Bellfountain. They have two
daughters, Carolyn Sue and Betty
Lou.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Landoh Regele.
principal and fifth and sixth grade
teacher in the Bellfountain School,
have recently purchased a home
west of Alpine, known to old
timers as the Burnham place.
They are planning to sell their
Corvalhs home and will move to

ployment In Salem for the sum
mer and will leave soon for her
work as playground supervisor.
Miss Doris Gragg has been teach
ing the past two years at Tacoma,
while Linda and Donald are stu
dents at Willamette University.

(Gladys) Holter has rented the
Richtcr house and will move from
her home east of Monroe as soon
as the Richtcr house is vacaled by
Mr. and Mrs. Griffin. Mrs. Holter
is a long time resident of this
area, and has spent several
months here with her daughter,
Mrs. Myrtle Whittington rbcently.
Keith Martin left recently f

will return home for Four-H
Summer School at Corvallis.

at the Astoria Regatta. Mr. and
Mrs. Litchfield taught for a num
ber of years in the former Bell
fountain High School.
