Proper Playroom Design Helps in Developing Child A properly-equipped playroom is as good as a teacher. According to many leading psychologists, youngsters can learn neatness, self-reliance and manual aptitudes much more rapidly if the room in which they play is arranged to encourage these traits. Here are some ideas in play room design: 1. A complete wall of closets with flush doors, the handles set low so that youngsters can manip ulate them without adult assist ance. 2. The toy closets should en courage putting-away habits by being easy to keep neat. One new idea is a walk-in closet with shelf units fitted low and surfaced with easy - to - clean material. Light cords should hang low. 3. Adjustable rods for clothes closets. These may be inched up, year by year, as the child ad vances from toddler to teen. 4. Supply a desk for writing, drawing and storage of scrap books. This need be np more than a sturdy box dressed up with paint. 5. Widen the low windowsills to provide additional storage or play activity area. 6. Much of the room's furni ture, scaled to juvenile stature, may be built directly into the four walls. Such items could in clude window benches, a table for clay sculpture and drawing, or a schooldesk replica for home work hours. 7. Be sure there is plenty of light. Not only must there be suf ficient general illumination, but individual play areas should be equipped with direct lighting. 8. If space and money permit, the playroom may have its own tiled washroom, installed on the same plumbing lines which serve an adjoining bathroom. Sour Milk Removes Tarnish from Silver If you run short of silver pol ish, pour sour milk into a pan and put your tarnished silver ware into it. Let it stand for several hours, then wash the silverware in sudsy water.
