Three Naval Reserve units meet there weekly. A Ma rine Reserve unit is now In the process of formation there, and ten civilian groups meet in the west Eugene building regularly. Six use the shooting range. They are Springfield Pistol Club, Springfield Rifle Team, Moose Rifle Club, VFW Junior Rifle Club, Eugene police and state po lice. THE EUGENE Yacht Club uses facilities for a weekly navigation class. The Navy Mothers Club gathers there monthly, and Sea Scouts and Explorer Scouts use it as headquarters. Other organizations such as the Girl Scouts, Reserve Officers Assn., Nutrition Study Group and Gold Star Mothers have used it on occasion. Lt. Cmdr. George Ennis, officer- in-charge, explains that there is still plenty of room for other or ganizations and that there is no charge. S, Chamber of Commerce urged Con gress Wednesday to end wage and price controls by June 30. It also suggested rent controls be wined out since they have ceased to operate except in few localities. Clem D. Johnston of Roanoke, Va., director and chairman of the chamber's policy committee, tola the Senate Banking Committee other provisions of the Defense Production Act should not be ex tended beyond March 1, 1953. INFLATION. Johnston said, should be curbed by credit con trol, taxation, savings and mone tary and fiscal policies. The latter, he added, should in clude reductions in federal spend ing and control of credit expan sion by the Federal Reserve Board instead of by the Treasury, In other testimony, an official of Safeway Stores, Inc., charged that the "record of the admin istration with regard to the pre diction of economic events to come is not good."
