Pierce, a res ident of Eugene since 1908, died earlv Thursday morning, Janu ary '31, 1952 at his home, 350 E. 18th Ave. He was born in Mich ian in 1877. He was in the gro cery business here until 1933, at which time he entered the brok erage business selling largely for Eugene Fruit Growers Assn. Mr. pierce was always active in civ ic affairs, was a charter member of Kiwanis Club and belonged to the Chamber of Commerce. For 19'i years he served on the Eugene Water Board. He was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist of Eugene. Be sides his wife, he is survived by 3 daughters, Mrs. R. W. (Fran ces) McKnight, Modesto, Calif.; Mrs. C. W. (Lois) Dietterich of Atlanta, Ga.; Mrs. W. H. (Lou ise) Wright of Eugene and 2 grandchildren, Lewis S. Wright and Linda Carol Wright of Eu gene; -a sister, Mrs. ft. W. Rich mond of Eugene; 2 brothers, Hoyt E. Pierce of Santa Ana, Calif.; Edward J. Pierce o Los Angeles. Funeral services will be conducted in Simon-Louns-bury Mortuary, Monday, Febru ary 4, 1952 at 11:00 a.m. Mr. William Johnson, a member of the Christian Science Church will officiate. Private commit ment in Rest-Haven Memorial Park. Mr. Pierce will lie in state at chapel from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sun. February 3, when friends may call.
