The trees, each weighing more than five tons, were brought here from New Jersey by truck and trailer. Ten-foot balls of earth protected the roots. The honey locust tree is believed by horticulturalists to be the best qualified tree to replace the dis ease-ridden American elms. The honey locust tree branches out In a wide, graceful shape and Is rela tively free of pests and disease. First edition of the national ized newspaper La Prensa will ap pear during the first two weeks of November, it was announced Tuesday night. The newspaper, expropriated by the government last April, will be published as an organ of the gov ernment-backed General Coined eration of Labor, Steel Prices Given Boost WASHINGTON The gov ernment Wednesday boosted ceil ing prices for ordinary steel scrap by $2 a ton. The hope is that it wul speed collection or scrap ma terials vitally needed in defense production. The order bv the Office of Price Stabilization allows dealers to put the new prices into effect. They must have them in operation by next Tuesday. OPS officials said the changes nre not expected to make any ap preciable difference in the overall general ceiling level lor scrap. Overcharges -For Grave Digging Paid : DES MOINES (P) An Iowa cemetery which made an over charge of $5 on each of 60 graves dug between May 1 and Oct.'1 1 has squared itself with Uncle Sam, the Iowa Office of Price Stabiliza tion reported Wednesday. The OPS said that in addition to charging $5 more than the price ceiling on 60 graves the non-profit cemetery association also over charged $1 each for care of 26 urns. In a voluntary settlement, Initi ated by the cemetery association itself, a $236 check In full settle ment of the overcharges has been tendered the treasurer of the United Slates, the OPS R&fd. R. K. Brannon, district OPS en forcement director, said there was no evidence of willful violation and the name of cemetery was being withheld. t Brannon said grave - digging charges were frozen under the general ceiling price regulation last January but that on May1: 1 the cemetery raised its charges from $20 to $25 a grave. .
