DEERHORN The fourth an
nual reunion of the McKenzie
Union High School District No.
5 last Sunday proved to be an
enjoyable occasion for sixty
eight guests registered at the
Walterville Hall. The picnic was
sponsored by former students
and teachers of the now-discontinued
secondary school. Families
of all members of the group and
their friends were invited, so
many former acquaintances
were able to renew friendships.
Special honor was paid to
three 'couples who had celebrat
ed their fiftieth wedding anni
versaries and were parents who
helped establish the school when
rural high schools were a rarity.
Mr. and Mrs. Samuel J. Goddard
of CreswelU who now have
twenty-one grandchildren; Mr.
and Mrs. W. B. Scott and Mr.
and Mrs. Milan J. Wearin, who
soon will celebrate their fifty
eighth anniversary, all received
gifts.
Special guests were Mr. and
Mrs. John Holmes of Eugene,
Mrs. Clare Willian, and Mr. and
Mrs. Frank Page, all of whom
have taken an active part in the
affairs of the school. Mr. and
Mrs. Robert Willian of Eugene
were special guest. Mrs. Willian
was the only early-day instrue
tor who was present this year.
Lee Fountain, a graduate of
1918, who has been master of
ceremonies each year since the
reunions began, again kept
things moving. Before the pic
nic luncheon, the senior Mr.
Wearin, a former clerk of the
