Everyone Is invited to come and have dessert at the manse. Flower Show At Westfir Next Friday WESTFIR Westfir Garden Club announces Its big flower show, for Friday, Aug. 19, at the Westfir Show Hall. All exhibit are to be at the hall by noon, and the show opens to the public it 2 p.m., until 4:30, and 7-8:30. All kinds of flowers are acceptable, club not to be re sponsible for the containers. Ar rangements are to be by one, three, six, or 12, or bunches of small flowers. All flowers are to be grown by the exhibitor. There will be educational ex hibits by the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Brownies. Further details, names of judges, etc., will be published. Creswell News CRESWELL Mrs. E. O. Smith and Mrs. R. G. St. Clair were elected to membership at Re bekhs Wednesday evening. The annual Odd Fellows, Re bekaha, and Theta Kho plcnlo Waa planned for Aug. 21 at the Robert Franklin ranch. Games will be played in the Iftembon and a picnic dinner will be served at 6 p.m. Mrs. Harold Johnston is in charge of punch, Mrs. Loren Westrope is in charge of coffee. Mrs. E. W .Rand and Mrs. T. R. Graham will serve refreshments tt the next meeting. Cames Swale Club has planned a food sale for Sept. 9 with the place to be announced later. A quilt will also be sold that day. Mrs. George Hayes and Mrs. Elsie Regis will entertain the club at the Hayes home In September. Rev. and Mrs. Ward Wood have purchased the home on North Fifth Street which was owned and occupied by Mrs. Genevieve McCarrlson and Mrs. Vivian Kimpton. Mr. and Mrs. Weber of Coulee City, Wash, are visiting her sister, Mrs. J. R. Sellers and family. Mrs. Weber la the former Henri etta Allen and made her home with the Sellers several years ago. Picnic Postponed At Sweet Creek WEET CREEK Due to the se rious lllnrsi of Mrs. Rose Mason, who is In the Eugene Hospital, the picnic scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 14, at the ranch home of Mr. and Mrs. John Searer Jr., has been postponed indefinitely. Point Terrace Garden Club meet Thursday, Aug. 18 tor an all day meeting at the clubhouse. Mr. Alhert Elllngson, Mrs. Joe Ellingson and Mrs. Merle Crump will serve dessert. All members are asked to bring a sack lunch and wear old clothes, as it Is to be a work day to clean the grounds surrounding the club house. Mr. and Mrs. Millard McVeigh and small sons left this week in their car and trailer house for a month's trip, the greater part of which will be spent in Canada. Back from two years in Okina wa are Lt Col. and Mrs. Kenneth Addison and young son Johnny. While here they were at the home of Mrs. Addison's Barents, the Charles Slayters. The Addlsons left here Sundav for Ft. Leavenworth, Kans., where h will attend the command and general staff college for a year. Junction News JUNCTION CITY Members of the American Legion and its Auxiliary are being asked to re member the Joint picnic with the American Legions of Monroe and Harrisburg, to be held Aug. 28 at 12:30 p. m., in Alderwood Park. The picnic will be potluck and all are to furnish their own table service. Coffee, sugar and cream will be furnished by the hosts, the Junction City Post and Auxiliary. Paul Sisler property on Ingalls Way has been sold to Mr. and Mrs. Gordon L. Corner of Eugene, who are remodeing and enlarging the house preparatory to occiiDatlon sometime In October. Corner holds master s decree from U. of O. and is now principal of the grade schools at Santa Clara. He Is at tending the summer session at the U. of O. Mrs. Corner (Elinor Hitch) is a graduate of the U. of O. and has taught In several high schools in eastern Oregon. Rev. and Mrs. Sisler and son Phil have just returned from two weeks attendance of the an nual Oregon and Washington Con ference and Camp Meeting of the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Jenning's Lodge, Oregon. At this conference Rev. Sisler received his appointment to the pastorate at Veronica, Oregon. Rev. Sisler has served as nas- ior's assistant at the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Eu gene for the past two years. Pre vious to this, he had four year's experience preaching at Florence. Scoutmaster Cceil Wicks, after working hard with the boys all year so that all would be able to make the trip to gether, waa unable at the last minute to go along himself, on account of Illness Truck for the trip was donated by Paul Wilson, and driven by Carlyle Craig. Santa Clara Grange, troop sponsor, donated food and some equipment. Extra transportation was provided by Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Whipple with their jeep and trailer, and Robert Brown and Mr. Holzapple with their cars. Holzapple was to be in camp until Wednesday, then M. L. Tovlerton took his place until Friday, and Alyn Crocker was to finish the week and bring uie noys home.
