NEW YORK m An AFL union whose 1800 members pro cess most motion picture film shown in this country has July 31 for a strike. The union, Local 702 of the Mo tion Picture Laboratory Techni cians, says a stoppage would halt production of most newsreels and feature movies. A federal mediator is seeking to settle the dispute between the , union and 16 processing laboratories. However, union president John J. Francavilia said there was little chance for an agreement, and that a strike by the technicians might spread to projection operators and Hollywood studio workers. Ivan Walters, White Lake, Wis., has a $2000 check which Gallion gave him gratis and six $500 checks given him as "loans." An Antigo, Wis., bank has a $10,000 check which Gallion left there for his mother. A number of Appleton couples have $1000 checks given them by Gallion in the past few days, and one of the couples bought a car with the check. A number of other persons re ported they had been given small er checks "because Gallion said he liked them." Meanwhile, authorities are in vestigating the Gallion trail and creditors frequent the Charnelton Street, apartment where he had lived. A few of his belongings re main in the upstairs abode he oc cuoied and a 1937 coupe stands behind the residence where he left it. Someone has removed the car keys.
