Eugene branch, Oregon Mothers, which at its initial tea last month paid honor to freshman mothers, will have a second social affair Wednesday after noon at Gerlinger Hall, and on this occasion will pay honor to mothers of alumni. An open business meeting will take place at two-thirty o'clock, Mrs. Kenneth Moore, president of the Eugene branch, presiding; The presidents of all social organizations on the campus are invited to attend this meet ing, or to send representatives. All Oregon Mothers also are urged to be present. . . w The social hour Is set for three o'clock, when a musical program will be given by members of the active chapter of Phi Beta, music honorary. A humorous skit also will be presented by members of Kappa Theta sorority. Mrs. Grant Crakes, hospitality chairman, will be assisted by mothers of Kappa Kappa Gam ma and Alpha Gamma Delta sororities, and Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. THE LANE COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION will be hosts at a dinner dance at the Eugene Country Club Friday evening, from five-thirty o'clock until midnight, it is announced. The affair will be semi-formal; that is, women will be in evening dress, but men are not required to be. A committee of the wives of members has been appointed to arrange for the entertainment of guests. They are Mrs. Donald R. Husband, chairman; Mrs. Lewis Hoffman, Mrs. Robert Goodwin, Mrs. Sid Milligan and Mrs. John Pennington. ' BONNE HEURE DANCE CLUB will entertain in the downtown Masonic Temple Thursday evening, with dancing to begin at nine o'clock. Co chairmen of the committee in charge are Mr. and Mrs. N. A. Lambert. Thomas was announced to a group of friends Sunday evening at the homo of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. K. L. Carlisle. Miss Carlisle is a graduate of the University of Oregon, a mem ber of Pi Beta Phi sorority, and president of Eugene Spinsters. Mr. Thomas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd C. Thomas of Portland, is a senior at the university this year. He is affiliated with Alpha Tau Omega fraternity and Friars, senior men's honorary. The wedding is planned for June. , Friends invited to a Halloween party at the home of Miss Jeanne Marks last Sunday had a surprise when it proved to be an an nouncement of her engagement to Lloyd Philpott of Harrisburg. The wedding date will be Janu ary 23. During a program of games, an arrangement of grapes was re moved from atop a large pump kin which was displayed promi nently on the radio table. Guests filed past and peeped into the lighted pumpkin, without reveal ing to the one following what was seen: A miniature replica of a church aisle, down which walked tiny plastic figures of a bridal party. A note o the pul pit carried the announcement and date. . Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Neuenfeldt announce the engagement of their daughter, Marian, to Virgil Butler, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leon H. Butler of Vancouver, Wash. The wedding has been planned for early February. Miss Neuenfeldt is a graduate of the University of Oregon, and a member of Chi Omega social sorority. Mr. Butler attended the University of California. He is affiliated with Phi Delta Theta fraternity. Mrs. Leah J. Long announces the engagement of her daughter, Joan, to John S. Smeed, son of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Smeed of Eugene. No date has been set for the wedding. Mr. and Mrs. Harry A. Arrowcraft Tea and Sale Set for. Tuesday Pi Beta Phi alumnae extend a general invitation to the pub lic to attend the annual tea and sale of handweaving, hand-made baskets and heartbrooms from the Arrowcraft Shop in Gatlin burg, Tenn., to be held Tues day afternoon from two until five o'clock at the Pi Beta Phi house, 1518 Kincaid Street. This craft work is done by adults in their own mountain homes un der the supervision of the Pi Beta Phi Settlement School. This school is of special interest to Eugeneans because of that fact that the weaving supervisor for Arrowcraft is Mrs. Tina McMor ran, until recently a well known Eugene resident. In this position Mrs. McMorran not only designs all of the weaving but also keeps more than a hundred weavers busy the year 'round. One of a number of Mrs. McMorran's de signs featured in the local sale is a lovely Greensboro luncheon set, the design of which is adapt ed from Mrs. McMorran's prize winning entry in the Interna tional Textile Exhibition held at the Woman's College of the Uni versity of North Carolina in Greensboro,' N. C. Another Eugene woman shar ing honors in the Arrowcraft sale is Mrs. C. J. Sullivan, Jr., whose Whig Rose apron received a blue ribbon in the 1948 Lane County Fair. Arrowcraft is pro ducing the apron in five color combinations. Other handweaving in the sale includes baby jackets and bon nets, blankets, carriage robes and bibs, dirndl) for mother and daughter, bedjackets, bags hi several styles, neckties for th men, some with scarfs to matok. Household linens include lunch eon sets in a number of different styles and colors, dresser scarfa in lacy weave, runners, towels, bathmats, hot dish mats and pot holders. Prices range from twenty-five cents to eight dollars. Mrs. Herbert Baker is chair man of the Arrowcraft tea and sale, assisted by Mrs. Robera Baldwin and Mrs. C. J. Winther, all of Eu gene, exchanged wedding vows in St. Mary's Catholic Church last Sunday afternoon. The Very 1 Rev. Francis P. Leipzig offici ated at two o'clock. Miss Heaney wore a gown of white satin made with off-the-shoulder yoke of marquisette, which was edged by a bertha collar trimmed with seed pearls. The skirt was full and made with a long train.1 Her t long veil of illusion was lace trim med and held by a bonnet head dress of satin and seed pearls. She carried a bouquet of yellow roses and a handkerchief which had been a part of her mother's wedding outfit. Mrs. Victor Lorenzo of Vaca ville, Calif., was the bride's only attendant. She wore a gown of aqua satin with head band of orchid and yellow chrysanthe mums, to match the flowers in her bouquet. Dean Winther, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. Ush ers were Richard Weitzell and Donald Furrer. The bride was escorted to ,the altar by her uncle, Arthur Helm. Baskets of yellow and white chrysanthemums were used to decorate the church and pews were marked by white ribbon bows. James Kays sang an "Ava Maria." At the reception which was given in the home of the bride groom's parents, Mrs. Astrid Lindsey cut the cake and Mrs. William Jones poured. Serving were Misses Marian Fuson, Wil ma Chritofferson and Elizabeth Miller. Mrs. William Jones . poured. Yellow chrysanthe mums were used to decorate the table. Miss Helen Wright had charge of the guest book. Mr. and Mrs. Winther went on a trip to the Oregon coast, lb wearing a suit of plum colored crepe with grey and pink accessories.
