Fern Ridge Park 10 Miles Out West 11th rfnTsraTTB Dependency Gap Found In Income Tax Law LOS ANGELES U.R Miss Augusta Rosenberg, lecturer In in come taxation for the University of California extension, has found a discrepancy in the recently en acted federal income tax law which makes a certain type of young wage earner neither a de pendent nor a taxpayer. It seems that under the law, no one earning less than $600 a year need pay Income tax; however, the old law's definition of a de pendent as one earning less than $500 still stands. "Conseauently, Junior still will have to keep his earnings under $500 to qualify as an exemption for fattier. Junior won't have to pay any tax himself unless he earns more than $600," according to Miss Rosenberg. If a youngster earns between $500 and $300, she said, he falls into an unclassified vacuum as far as the Bureau of Internal Revenue Is concerned. ; Bees were introduced into Bos ton as early as 1670. Register-Guard. Eugene, Ore., Thurs,, Oct. 21, 1948, Page IT Oregon Cows Too Eager PORTLAND VP) Oregon cows Just won't read the state milk control regulations and consequently Portland had too much butter last month. . The State Milk Control Board recently reduced the richness of the milk which may be legally sold here. But the coa-s went right on giving just as rich milk as ever. ' With a shortage of drinking milk in this area, distributors bought extra milk in Washington, and separated it: adding the skim milk to the looal supply to thin it down to the legal limits, and churning the butterfat Into but ter. The result was that Portland according to the milk control re port of the State Deartment of Agriculture had 32,835 pounds of surplus butterfat last month.
