shark's tooth, believed to be at
least 50,000 years old, was found
recently when a road was being

Bjorklund Appointed
To Forestry Position
Norman E. Bjorklund, former
ATmy Air Force officer and gradu
ate of Oregon State College school
of forestry, has been named as
sistant forester for the West Coast
Lumbermen's Association and the
Pacific Northwest Logger's Asso
ciation, according to Edmund
Hayes, Portland, chairman of the
joint committee on forest conser
vation.
Bjorklund will headquarter in
Portland at the West Coast Lum
bermen's Association offices and
will work under the direction of
William D. Hagenstein, forest en
gineer. He will supervise the For
est Industry Nursery at Nisqually,
Wash., and will devote some time
to the development and expansion
of the industry's tree farm pro
gram which now includes 2,744,154
acres of private timber holdings In
